G-Dragon’s solo comeback scheduled for August

Yesterday, it was revealed that G-Dragon was busy working on his next solo comeback with a featuring by Ludacris.

New information was dropped today by industry insiders, with some claiming that he would be making his comeback in August. With his first solo album, ‘Heartbreaker’, having been released around his 22nd birthday on August 18th, 2009, it seems he may be following suit with his second album.

One official stated, “During his hiatus, G-Dragon has been working dilligently on Big Bang‘s album and his solo work. He will be starting his activities at the same time as his birthday this time as well.”

Ludacris revealed to have participated in G-Dragon’s upcoming solo album

Big Bang is continuing to expand their musical ventures worldwide! On March 12th, industry insiders revealed that G-Dragon will be collaborating with American hip hop artist Ludacris.

One official revealed, “Ludacris and G-Dragon completed their collaboration near the end of last year. G-Dragon is preparing for a solo album comeback this summer, which Ludacris will be featuring in. Ludacris made a rap feature in one of G-Dragon’s compositions.”

He continued, “We’re sure that people can look forward to this song, as it is the work of G-Dragon and a world reknowned musician.”

Ludacris visited Korea last year in September and showed much interest in Big Bang and their music. It seems he went as far as to complete a collaborative production together before his departure.

Big Bang talks about the inspiration behind their hairstyles

Big Bang‘s appearance on the March 11th broadcast of SBS‘s ‘Inkigayo‘ was nothing short of spectacular, ranging from their epic performances to Taeyang’s sudden hug for IU. The interview segment in particular was hilarious, as each member discussed their inspiration for the wild hairstyles.

G-Dragon, whose unbalanced hairstyle was at the center of much attention, replied that he drew his inspiration from seaweed. Dancing king Taeyang answered that he got his inspiration from a radish.

T.O.P commented that his electric blue hair was inspired by ice cream, while Daesung said that his platinum blond hair was inspired by a white horse. Seungri wrapped up the inspiration parade by saying that he got the inspiration for his short hairstyle from a chestnut.

Netizens and fans wrote various comments such as “G-Dragon’s hair is like seaweed dipped in gochujang” and, “I wonder how many other singers can sport such hairstyles“.

In related news, Big Bang showcased a killer stage by performing three songs from their new mini-album, “Blue“, “Bad Boy” and, “Fantastic Baby“.

Big Bang’s Taeyang surprises IU for White Day?

It’s a well known fact that IU‘s been a fan of Big Bang‘s Taeyang since… forever. Today must’ve been her lucky day, as the darling idol received a heartfelt hug from her favorite star right on stage!

Big Bang joined ‘Inkigayo‘ MCs IU, Nicole, and Hara to talk about their comeback. For their interview, the three girls chose to ask fan questions to create a memorable interview.  One of those questions, sent by a fan named ‘A sunflower who only looks at Taeyang‘, asked, “White Day is coming up soon, who will Taeyang gift candy to?”

Coincidentally, IU who was wearing a crown made out of tiny sunflowers, leading her fellow MCs to suspiciously ask, “Was that question really sent by a fan?”

IU denied their suspicion and told them to “be quiet”, hurrying Taeyang for a response. Taeyang chose action over words and pulled her into a cute hug that had all cameras and the envy of fans focused on her!

IU obviously couldn’t hide her expression of joy, while others erupted in laughter.

Big Bang wins ‘Inkigayo’ mutizen + performances from March 11th!

SBS‘s ‘Inkigayo‘ is back once again with a new show full of exciting performances from the artists you adore, brought to you by the lovely IU, and KARA‘s Goo Hara and Nicole.

Aside from the usual stages on tonight’s episode, girl groups Nine Muses and C-REAL continue with their comeback stages for “Ticket” and “JOMA JOMA“, respectively.

Soloist Fat Cat continues promotions with her new track “Like a Dream“, while Bohemian and M4 make a comeback with “Don’t Sick” and “Throw Your Love Away“.

Big Bang members were caught playing the hamburger game?

Taeyang just tweeted “First airing celebration hamburger” and posted the above pictures. Big Bang members are building a ‘hamburger’ with their bodies at what looks like a SBS‘ Inkigayo dressing room. Seungri unfortunately got stuck at the bottom of the stack and looked a little(?) in pain. In comparison, Taeyang had a huge smile as he took his place on top.

The netizens commented things like, “Happy Taeyang and Seungri in pain“, “Even Big Bang members play hamburger“, and “They look so childish“.

In addition, fans were so amused by the photos they began trending #BIGBANGBURGERS to second place on Twitter.

It seems like they are as excited as the fans for their long-anticipated comeback.  Big Bang will be making their first music show appearance today at 1:10PM KST on SBS’ Inkigayo.

Big Bang’s G-Dragon opens up about his comeback

On March 9th, the members of Big Bang sat down for a heartfelt interview with SBS‘s ‘Big Bang Comeback Show - Alive Big Bang‘, which also featured footage of their comeback concert earlier this month.

On their comeback, G-Dragon opened up, “I didn’t think that I could just stay hiding forever, and I knew that I couldn’t stand in the way of so many other people in my members. As opposed to saying that I’m reflecting a hundred thousand times, I thought that it’d be better to physically show them that I’ve changed and to quickly change the notion that people have of me as fast as possible. It was what I had to do, I thought.”

When asked when he thought the “Bluest” moment of his life was, he replied, “Right now. Since I was a baby, I’ve never had that many hardships. I lived a lucky life and was loved by many. After going through what happened last year, I thought about everything more, and now that time has passed, I think this moment is the bluest moment of my life. I’m not very sad, but I’m not very happy either; it feels like I’m somewhere in the middle.”

Gawker says Big Bang’s “Bad Boy” is “The Real Perfect New Pop Song”

By now, more and more people across the globe are becoming aware of one of the hottest name in K-pop: Big Bang.

American weekly magazine TIME published two online articles recognizing the boys as a leading force in Hallyu, and most recently, Gawker.com coined the group’s new track “Bad Boy” as the “perfect new pop song”.

“It’s so perfect it transcends language,” the author wrote, and saw potential for K-pop to “conquer America” “now that hip hop mogul Swizz Beatz has signed a collaboration deal with one of South Korea’s biggest entertainment companies.”

The only flaw he saw in the group? Rapper T.O.P‘s giant crystal skull pendant in the “Bad Boy” MV.

In any case, it’s good to see that the boys are making major headlines around the world.

Daesung was going to take a 2-3 year break + full episode of ‘Big Bang Comeback Show’

On SBS ‘Big Bang Comeback Show – ALIVE BIG BANG‘ that aired on March 9th, Big Bang member Daesung stated that he was thinking of taking a break from the industry for 2 to 3 years.

Daesung admitted, “Personally, I thought I would have taken maybe 2 or 3 years before making a comeback. I told Yang Hyun Suk [YG] that I wasn’t confident and that I was still lacking in a lot of ways,” he said. “But YG told me that as a singer, my job was to deliver emotions to the listeners. A true artist, he explained, needed to be able to deliver sentiments during both joyous and difficult periods of their life. When he said that, I realized that he was right.”

He added, “After finding my courage, I worked on the album and thoroughly prepared for our first television broadcast.”

2NE1’s Minzy may only be 18 years old but she already has a bodyline that’s hotter than most women in their 20s. On March 9, the youngest member of 2NE1 tweeted a photo of her showing off her sexy S-line body at the set of their “Scream” MV.

“Cyborg Minzy…hahaha…A cyborg heating up wearing flip flops…keke Snapped during the filming of our “Scream” MV,” Minzy wrote with the photo. Wearing a black shirt and pants, alongside her short cut hair, Minzy indeed exudes the image of a cyborg, which is the type of character she tried portraying in 2NE1’s latest Japanese MV.

Seungri: “BIGBANG Members Were on Bad Terms with Each Other until Last Year”

In a shocking revelation, BIGBANG’s Seungri said that BIGBANG members did not have a good relationship until last year. On March 9, BIGBANG’s Seungri appeared on SBS “BIGBANG Comeback Show- ALIVE BIGBANG” and shared that, “To be honest with you, until the ‘Tonight’ album promotions last year, all five BIGBANG members weren’t really on good terms with each other. The better word would be we weren’t that close with to each other.”

“Actually, all the members were more interested in personal activities. We all felt like we could do well separately under solo promotions. Taeyang and I had more interest in solo albums, while T.O.P wanted more movie and drama acting. G-Dragon had big dreams in producing,” he added.

But the Daesung car accident and G-Dragon’s marijuana incident brought the whole group together and made their relationship stronger than ever. “After realizing BIGBANG might collapse just like that, all five members started to really get closer and work together. We encouraged each other to revive our group,” he said.

Meanwhile, SBS broadcasted live footage of BIGBANG’s world tour concert, “2012 BIG SHOW- ALIVE,” which took place from March 2 to 4 in Seoul.

[UPDATED] BIGBANG Seungri Drops Out of College to Focus on Career

Earlier today, TV Chosun’s “Entertainment in TV” announced that BIGBANG’s Seungri dropped out of Chung Ang University, where he was majoring in theater and acting studies. According to a representative from Chung Ang University, “Seungri recently visited the campus and withdrew from school. Because of his BIGBANG activities, he could not attend his classes. And as a result, he’s been placed under academic probation several times. He probably made the decision because it was hard to focus on his entertainment and academic career at the same time.”

In 2009, Seungri and Girls’ Generation’s Yuri made headlines for being accepted to Chung Ang University, beating out some tough competition. Back in 2006, Seungri had also withdrawn from high school due to his activities with BIGBANG. However, he passed his GED (General Equivalency Diploma) in 2009, earning him his high school graduation status. Meanwhile, BIGBANG is dominating music charts in Korea and an impact throughout the world with their latest mini album “Alive.”

TV Chosun’s “Entertainment in TV” will air its segment regarding Seungri’s withdrawal from college tonight, March 9, at 9:50PM KST.

YG Entertainment officials confirmed, "Recently, Seungri withdrew from Chung Ang University. While Seungri still has a strong affection for his school, he had not been able to fully commit to his education because of various BIGBANG and overseas activities. Additionally, because of the upcoming world tour, we realized that Seungri would not be able to attend school. After careful consideration, he decided to leave." Officials added, "Seungri still has a thirst to learn and has enrolled at the Global Cyber University to attend classes online."

Big Bang’s ‘Alive’ charts on the Billboard 200

Big Bang‘s fabulous five has made another mark on K-pop history.

On March 9th, Billboard published the new weekly charts for the U.S. Billboard 200. On this chart, Big Bang’s recent Korean mini-album ‘Alive’ charted at number 150. This record is significant in that the Billboard 200 is known as the definitive chart for album sales in the United States.

This accomplishment is all the more impressive when it is taken into account that ‘Alive’ is a Korean language album that had absolutely no promotions in the United States. On March in 2009, BoA‘s English language album ‘BoA’ charted at number 127 on the Billboard 200, but this is the first time that marks the ranking of a Korean album on the chart.

In related news, the group also ranked at number 4 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Furthermore, their songs ‘Blue‘ , ‘Love Dust‘ and, ‘Fantastic Baby‘ all charted on the top three spots of Billboard’s Korea K-pop Hot 100 chart.

All YG Entertainment Artists to Appear on SBS “Strong Heart” Special Episode

All 13 artists under YG Entertainment will make an appearance on a special episode for SBS “Strong Heart.” On March 5, SBS told local media, “All members from BIGBANG and 2NE1, as well as Se7en, Tablo, Psy, and Gummy have confirmed their casting for the special ‘Strong Heart’ episode.”

“Since it’s a ‘YG Special Episode,’ the show will feature a lot of stories that happened within in the agency and things that never got revealed in the past,” SBS added.

The YG special episode will begin recording on March 15, and it will air over two episodes on March 27 and April 3. Meanwhile, coincidentally, this episode will be current MC, Lee Seung Ki’s final show with “Strong Heart.” His replacement has not been announced yet.

BIGBANG’s “Blue” MV Earns Same Recognition as Taylor Swift and Zac Efron’s Duet Video

BIGBANG’s latest music video for “Blue” has earned the group two gold medals from YouTube. The online video site has a system of rewarding gold, silver, and bronze medals to videos uploaded on its site under three different categories that include, “All Time Most Popular, “Recently Most Popular,” and “Trending.” The medals are given based on total views and the number of “likes.” 

BIGBANG’s “Blue” won gold medals in the “Recently Most Popular” and “Trending” categories, after it received over 8 million views in less than five days since its release on February 22. It resulted in the "Blue" MV showing up higher than Taylor Swift and Zac Efron's duet video. 

Their explosive popularity has also led to a spike in online sales, as “Blue” easily topped (and still is) all the major online music download sites, including Melon, Cyworld Music, Soribada, Olleh, and Mnet.

After the release of “Blue” on February 22, BIGBANG has been unveiling short teasers of the rest of the album every day. The teaser to Daesung’s solo track, “Wings,” will be revealed tonight at midnight. BIGBANG’s fifth mini album is scheduled for release on February 29. Meanwhile, the group will kick start their “BIGBANG ALIVE TOUR 2012” in Seoul from March 2 to 4.

Big Bang’s comeback is causing a syndrome at home in Korea and abroad.

The announcement of Big Bang’s fifth mini album, “Alive,” has been attracting much attention all over the world. On February 22, the first single, “Blue,” was released and since has been doing very well on domestic charts as well as overseas through iTunes. The single’s music video has gained immense viewership on Youtube as well reaching over 6 million views in three days.

The single “Blue” was made available at the same time on digital music sites such as MelOn, Naver, and MNET.  Within an hour the newly released track had achieved an “all-kill” on the domestic music sites. “Blue” has continued to be at the top spot since its release.

The music video for the single also was released on February 22.  After a day of being revealed to the public the video pulled in over 1 million views. Currently, the view count stands at over 6 million views. The popularity of the video is spreading worldwide and continues to grow even higher. The map shows where exactly the popularity of “Blue” is the strongest.

“Blue” further proves it is popular in many countries through the iTunes charts. The United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, and Mexico have the single ranked at #45, Australia #51, New Zealand #61, and Finland where the song made it into the top three. The song was released the same time worldwide and has managed to make it into the top 100, it is a quite an accomplishment for a K-Pop artist.

For Big Bang's upcoming concert, the agency wants to go where the desire for the group is high. Big Bang is to begin their tour in March and will take the tour around the globe as they traverse 16 countries. As of this time, YG Entertainment has not reveal specific cities as they continue to receive many inquiries from all over the world.

Yang Hyun Suk commented, “The United States, Britain, France, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and other high profile areas show their desire for Big Bang as they continue to contact us regarding the show.”

He continued, “With Big Bang’s comeback approaching, many are discovering them through their international popularity. On February 29, when the album officially releases overseas, it is expected to do better on the iTunes chart.”

Let’s hope YG is right, though Big Bang has accomplished much with “Blue” already. Congratulations Big Bang on their many achievements thus far and wish them the best on their comeback.

Earlier this month,  SBS‘s ‘Healing Camp‘ paid a visit to YG Entertainment‘s office, where they interviewed Big Bang about their past 2,000 days together as a popular five member group. The boys even revealed hidden stories that have never been brought to light.

During the interview, Seungri shared a shocking secret about Daesung. “After Daesung’s body became really fit from working out, he liked to be naked..there was even a time when he passed through airport immigration naked.”

Another hidden story revealed how T.O.P mischievously made Taeyang desire an Olympic Gold medal.

Aside from stories, T.O.P, Seungri, and Taeyang showed off their cooking skills as they prepared a special meal for G-Dragon and Daesung. Additionally, a special surprise gift to the members will be revealed.

‘Healing Camp’ will air on February 20th at 11:15 p.m. (KST).

2NE1 to release first Japanese album on March 28th

It’s just been revealed that 2NE1 will release their first Japanese album on March 28th!

According to Japanese music site, Oricon, 2NE1′s album will consist of original Japanese songs and localized version of “Fire” and “I Don’t Care“. 2NE1 will also release a DVD containing their music videos.

Leader CL revealed, “We are working diligently to create music so that the effort we put into the first Japanese album will make our  Japanese fans feel happy and surprised.”

In related news, 2NE1 and Big Bang will attend Japan’s ‘Springroove Festival‘ on March 31st, where they’ll be performing alongside other world-famous acts like David Guetta and LMFAO.

Big Bang G-Dragon Is Wearing Women's Clothes on "When I Can't Sing" MV

As we reported earlier, Big Bang’s G-Dragon appeared as a cameo in the music video for “When I Can’t Sing.” It appears that the clothes that G-Dragon is wearing in the brief scene are actually women’s clothes!

G-Dragon is wearing a white t-shirt and shiny jacket. However, the jacket that he is wearing seems to be made for women. G-Dragon has worn women’s clothes in the past.

Netizens that have come across the picture stated, “I envy G-Dragon’s figure,” “Wow he is so skinny that women’s clothes look big on him,” “He is such a bad guy for making women feel bad.”

Se7en’s song “When I Can’t Sing” has been gaining a lot of attention for being a first producing collaboration between YGE and JYPE. It is also the first time that a YGE artist has received a song from somebody outside of YGE. Also, Big Bang will be releasing their new album on February 29.

Big Bang and 2NE1 to Perform at Same Event with LMFAO and David Guetta

YG Entertainment labelmates Big Bang and 2NE1 will be guesting at one of Japan's biggest R&B and hip hop festivals, the "SPRINGROOVE!" 

The festival recently released their stunning line-up of top hip hop artists, revealing that 2NE1 and Big Bang would also be making attendances.

The festival was first launched in 2006, so this is its fifth year running. Not only does the festival showcase local artists, but also artists from overseas. Since 2006, famous figures like Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Keyshia Cole, Akon, T-Pain, and TLC have performed at the prestigious events. 

This year will be the first time Big Bang and 2NE1 perform shoulder to shoulder with LMFAO and David Guetta. Officials of the festival praised Big Bang as "one of the groups that showcased explosive movement in the worldwide music market" and 2NE1 as an "up and coming pop icon popular in not only Asia but all over the world."

GD&TOP and 2NE1 were actually meant to perform last year with M-Flo but due to the natural disasters that occurred in the country, all plans were put on hold. 

The "2012 SPRINGROOVE Festival" will be held on March 31st at the Kobe World Memorial Hall and on April 1st at the Chiba Makuhari Messe Hall.

2NE1‘s Gong Minzy successfully transformed into a charismatic Michael Jackson.

The singer posted the photo above via her official Twitter page on January 27th and wrote, “Listening to Michael Jackson’s “Bad“.. Completely channeling my inner Michael Jackson.”

Her loud outfit seemed like something the king of pop would have opted to wear himself, and her charismatic gaze also reminded fans of the legendary singer.

After releasing part of the track list from their upcoming album earlier today, YG Entertainment has posted a mysterious message on its official blog. It didn’t include much, however, as it only had a date that read, “2012.02.01.”

It’s difficult to interpret what the date stands for at this point, but our best guess is that more updates on Big Bang’s new album will be revealed.

Earlier today, another teaser image with two song titles was unveiled. The two tracks titled “Intro (Alive)” and “Blue” are both written by G-Dragon. YG Entertainment had previously said, “G-Dragon has taken part in writing and producing the album. In many of these new songs you will see G-dragon’s sensible melody and unique lyrics.”

Big Bang Releases Partial Track List for New Album

YG Entertainment’s blog, “YG Life” (www.yg-life.com) released two songs from their track list for Big Bang’s upcoming album. Big Bang will be coming back in February with their new album.

The two songs that were revealed are “Alive” and “Blue.” G-Dragon and Park Han Bum produced “Alive” together. The lyrics of “Alive” were written by G-dragon. “Blue” was both written and produced by G-dragon and Teddy.

YG Entertainment had spoken about the upcoming album before, “G-Dragon has taken part in writing and producing the album. In many of these new songs you will see G-dragon’s sensible melody and unique lyrics.”

A week ago, YG had also talked about how he would put his heart and soul into Big Bang’s comeback. He also spoke about Big Bang’s preparations, “Big Bang members worked very hard for their comeback. They came to work evn on Sunday, as if this was their second home. I had not been able to see them often before but with this project I was able to work closely with them and I was happy for that.”

She then launches into her ‘Skin Malgem’ dance to SHINee‘s endorsement song.

BoA is looking for the Twitter user, “boakwon”..?

Looks like international superstar BoA has found herself quite a predicament: after seeking to change her current Twitter username @BoA_1105, to her real name @boakwon, the singer unexpectedly came across a problem.

On January 23rd, BoA tweeted, “Wanna change my twitter Account as “boakwon”, but it’s been already taken… Hmm.. Who’s using this… Can we exchange?! Lol”

After an attempt, she tweeted again, saying, “I tried to change…It said Username has already been taken…@boakwon WHO ARE YOU?????????”

Though the @boakwon page appears to be nonexistant right now, BoA was unable to switch her name. It’s possible (and quite ironic) that a fan of the singer signed up with this username long before.

Ahead of this, BoA also showed off a little traditional holiday spirit by tweeting, “I want to wear a hanbok too. Will I be able to wear it next year?”

Big Bang's Comeback in February Expected to Be "Biggest Ever"

Big Bang’s comeback won't come until February, but strong buzz buoyed by fans’ excitement and a high level of anticipation has already surrounded this piece of news. Even now, the comeback, first announced to have been scheduled in March has pushed forward to a month earlier.

VIPs and K-Pop enthusiasts are even more interested with news that Big Bang’s imminent comeback is going to be “the biggest ever.” Local news agencies report that Big Bang’s management agency, YG Entertainment, is gearing up to mount the biggest ever promotions for the five-member group’s return to the music scene.

The news throws support behind YG Entertainment big boss Yang Hyun Suk’s earlier statement on giving his heart and soul for Big Bang in 2012. “My first priority this year is Big Bang,” he had said. “I have been putting all my concentration towards Big Bang’s songs.”

“The past year was difficult,” local news agencies also quote him as saying. “But thanks to these experiences, we’ve learned more and become more mature.”

It is only a few more days until February so the excitement among fans and music industry watchers alike is palpable. Member Taeyang adds even more fuel to the fire with his tweet (@RealTaeyang) on January 24, saying “THE SUN WILL RISE.”
